Landmark Society to play role
in Judge Nowak's Collaborative
Landmark Society Executive Director Dennis Galucki
explains his plans for the Marketing/Development Committee with interested
attendees
On June 9, in the Common Council Chamber, Buffalo Housing Court Hank Nowak unveiled his Neighborhood Preservation Collaborative -- an attempt to bring preservation organizations and neighborhood groups together to cooperate for the good of the city. In Nowak's words:
We all share a concern regarding the deterioration of characteristic buildings and neighborhoods in the City of Buffalo. We hope that this collaborative will engage in proactive measures to safeguard these notable structures and communities from neglect and demolition.
Eight committees have been set up and two of them are chaired by Landmark Society trustees:
- Richard Bahr - Adaptive Reuse
- Dennis Galucki - Marketing/Development
In addition, Galucki and Landmark Society trustee Chuck LaChiusa have joined forces with Preservation Coalition trustee Harvey Garrett to begin a preservation fund which will include "gap funding" plus much more.
Landmark Society members are urged to join a Collaborative committee and get personally involved.
