Society Takes Stand on 1089 Elmwood
At its Oct. meeting the Landmark Society's Board of Trustees took a public position on the proposed demolition of 1089 Elmwood Ave., Buffalo.
Its position took the form of a resolution presented to Mr. Pano Georgiadis, the owner of thecirca 1894 Shingle-style Atwater House, which Mr. Georgiadis has sought a city permit to demolish. A copy was sent to Buffalo Mayor Anthony Masiello.Subsequently the LSNF's Executive Director, Dennis Galucki, was invited to a meeting in theMayor's office with Mr. Georgiadis, architects. Forever Elmwood, and the Preservation Coalition to begin exploring options as called for in the resolution.
As a follow-up to the meeting, Mr. Galucki petitioned the Mayor by letter not to allow hasty action on the permit and to ensure that that the property is maintained pending option finding.
