Hull House Buys Land Parcels and Receives Funds for Project

For the Hull House restoration-in-progress, good news abounds by way of realized plans and fundraising successes.

At the Second Annual Harvest Dinner, held Oct. 22 at the Fox Valley Club, LSNF trustee and Hull HouseRestoration Committee Chair Gary Costello announced the completed purchase of the period barn to the east of the house and its 1.4 acre site.

"With these purchases," he said, "we have pushed our holdings from the house and 1.1 acres to a total now of house, barn, cemetery, and 10.32 acres with which to advance the project."

He also announced receipt of an $87,000 grant awarded through the Environmental Protection Fund, to be administered by the NYS Office of Historic Preservation.

A later letter from the NYS Assembly Majority Delegation, with whom Mr. Costello has been working, announced a $27,000 appropriation for Hull House, and a letter from Assemblyman Paul Tokasz announced an $11,500 grant for the project through his personal Local Initiative funds.

In addition, the Harvest Dinner raised a net $6,200 for the project.
